I'm William Naeger
... and I’m running for Topeka City Council because I believe in a future where our kids and grandkids can build their lives right here at home. My parents instilled in me the value of hard work—especially when it comes to standing up for those who need help the most. That’s the mindset I bring to public service, and it’s what drives me to make Topeka a city where every neighborhood has the opportunity to thrive.
I believe that every community in Topeka deserves investment and success. Your health, happiness, and opportunities shouldn’t be determined by your zip code. That requires a city government that listens first and acts as a strong partner to the people, neighborhoods, and small businesses that make Topeka great. Progress shouldn’t be limited to one part of town—no matter where you live, you should be able to see and feel that progress on your own street. You shouldn’t have to move to build the life you want for yourself and your family.

My Experience in Public Service
-
City Planning & Housing – As Chair of the Topeka Planning Commission, I’ve worked to cut red tape that slows the development of much-needed housing, helping to keep property valuations from skyrocketing.
-
Protecting Equal Rights – While serving on the Topeka Human Relations Commission, I led efforts to strengthen our city’s nondiscrimination ordinance. Thanks to that work, it is now illegal for a landlord to deny a veteran a place to live or for someone to be fired because of their sexuality.
-
Bipartisan State & Local Government Leadership – Including serving in the Kansas Statehouse and as part of Governor Laura Kelly’s team. I know how to navigate government to get real results.
-
Community Involvement – I currently serve as Treasurer and Board Member of the Friends of the Topeka Symphony and remain active in efforts to strengthen our city.
Now, I’m running to represent Topeka City Council District 1, which includes Downtown, Ward-Meade, Kenwood, Potwin, Auburndale, Oldtown, Tennessee Town, Historic Holliday Park, and Central Park.
I’m committed to making Topeka safer, stronger, and more inclusive for everyone. If you believe in a city where progress reaches every neighborhood, I’d love to earn your support.

Let's get to work.
